Rubber declines on selling pressure

RUBBER rates declined on Thursday as selling at higher levels put pressure on the prices. Major manufacturers slowed down their purchases. All the grades except RSS 5 and latex surrendered while RSS 4 closed at Rs 56.50 against Rs 57 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, RSS 3 improved to Rs 59.80 from Rs 58.77 a kg at Bangkok. The March features at TOCOM for the same grade closed weak at 146.7 yen against 148.3 yen on Wednesday.

The futures market also turned weak on Thursday. The near-month March delivery was quoted at Rs 56 (Rs 56.85), April delivery at Rs 57.67 (Rs 58.16), May delivery at Rs 60 (Rs 60.53) and June delivery at Rs 62.51 (Rs 63.03) per kg for RSS 4.

The spot market rates per kg for RSS 4 was Rs 56.60 (Rs 57), RSS 5 was Rs 55 (Rs 55), ungraded was Rs 53 (Rs 54), ISNR 20 was Rs 55.50 (Rs 56) and latex 60 per cent was Rs 40.50 (Rs 40.50).
