NMPT achieves target for 2003-04

Mangalore , Feb. 26

THE New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) handled 23.06 million tonnes of cargo as on February 25 against the annual target of 22.95 million tonnes set by the Union Ministry of Shipping, said Mr S. Gopalakrishna, Traffic Manager, in a release.

The growth rate during the first 11 months over the corresponding previous period is 20.7 per cent. The release said that this growth rate was the highest among all the major ports in India.

The port is hopeful of handling 25 million tonnes of cargo by the end of the current fiscal, it added.
