Corporate Corporate - Human Resources Corporate India gets set for `experiential games' Preeti Mehra
New Delhi , Feb. 29 THIS summer India Inc will have a host of new games added to their training programmes. And these will not be the usual group exercises, but experiential games that take players from simulation, and on through to the real world application of the principles learnt. For instance, `Promises, Promises' places you amid an imaginary united league of nations where you represent a country and have to keep the promises you made to the electorate, despite the unique obstacles and dynamics of your country. And `Rattle Snake Canyon' transports you to the world of the Wild West - sheriffs, settlers, merchants and railroads scenarios included. "There are several other games too, and each varies in its application. `Promises, Promises' teaches participants how interdependent they are on each other to achieve a goal and how one must always keep the bigger picture in mind, while `Rattle Snake' stresses on the importance of strategy, partnership and relationships in a business transactions,'' said Mr Ian Cornett, COO and President (Global Business) of the Canadian training company, Creative Training Excellence Inc. He was in town to license `Eagle's Flight', a package of experiential training programmes, to NIS Sparta, a Delhi-based performance enhancement company. `Eagle's Flight', with a turnover of C$20 million, has a presence in 27 countries. NIS Sparta will roll out the new training programmes by mid-March and ramp up in a few months. "We are targeting various sectors including FMCG, auto, oil, insurance, banking and telecom, " said Mr Sanjeev Duggal, CEO and President of NIS Sparta. "Many of these programmes will be customised to suit the sector in question. However, the rollout will be to our clients, such as NTPC and American Express, who have already experienced our `Reality Learning' programmes and are interested in the next initiative." According to Mr Duggal, in the new range of products from `Eagle's Flight' there is a big differentiator. "Though the input is still gaming, the output is much more intense and involved,'' he said, adding that in this age of globalisation, Indian organisations have graduated from being domestic players to international players and are thus part of global competition. Hence, it is imperative for training programmes to evolve and transform along with the changing times.
