Malaysian tourism board, Tag Heuer team up to promote Formula One

THE Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board and premium watch company Tag Heuer have joined hands to promote the forthcoming Malaysian racing event, Sepang F1 circuit.

"We are aiming to popularise F1 as a sport in India. Towards this end, we are undertaking several initiatives including roadshows in 14 cities wherein we are displaying four replicas of F1 cars. For the Sepang circuit, we have rolled out at a promotion in a tie-up with Malaysian Tourism Board, whereby customers purchasing a Tag Heuer watch would be eligible to win a trip to the Sepang circuit," Mr Manishi Sanwal, Brand Manager, Tag Heuer, said.

Tag Heuer has been associated with Formula One racing, and globally has high-profile brand ambassadors such as Kimi Räikkönen.

The Malaysian Board has also introduced special packages for Indians wanting to witness the F1 racing event (to be held later this month) on the Sepang circuit. According to Mr Mohd. Roslan, Director, Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board, with a sizeable F1 fan following in India, approximately 1,000 Indians are expected to fly in to Malaysia to witness the event this month.

"We have come out with a special event package costing between Rs 31,000 and Rs 39,000, which is inclusive of airfare, accommodation (for minimum three nights), the event, sightseeing, etc. Of course, the cost would increase according to the seat preference, as the cost of seats at the Sepang circuit can range from $250 to more than $1000," Mr Roslan said.
