PSG Arts & Science wins South India Quiz

THE nerve-wracking final round of the South India Quiz contest finished with team from PSG CAS (College of Arts and Science), Coimbatore emerging winners followed by the GRG College of Science in the second position.

At the end of the fifth and final rapid fire round, the boys - Tushar Phalke and Bhavik M. Pandya - from PSG CAS reversed their position to take the lead with 75 points. S. Venkatraman and H. Harish of GRG College of Science were pushed to the second place with 55 points, though they had maintained a clear lead until then.

The teams from Kumaraguru College of Technology and the Coimbatore Institute of Technology tied for the third place with 40 points each, while Dr Mahalingam College of Engineering, Pollachi was pushed to the fifth position and Acharya Tulasi National College, Shimoga finishing last.

Jansons School of Business (JSB), which organised the event, awarded a motorbike (each) to the team from PSG CAS, while the runner up took home a Nokia mobile handset (each). Financial calculators were given away to the other teams.

A total of 133 teams from 72 colleges in the four southern states took part in the South India Quiz Contest.

Event Manager turned Quiz Master Mr Siddhartha Basu conducted the finals of the Jansons Business Quiz '04 organised by JSB with Business Line as its media associate.

"We have a strong team. Over the years we have constantly refined to get a zero-error rate, between the source, interpretation and copy write,'' Mr Basu said.
