TATA Motors' Indica platform will host one more model.
The official Web site of the upcoming 74th Geneva International Motor Show, in its listing of world premieres by participating companies, mentions the Tata Indigo Advent Softroader, a "new model built on the same platform as the Indigo station wagon.''
According to it, the Softroader is powered by 62.3 kw MPFI gasoline and 52 kw diesel turbocharged and intercooled, Euro III engines.
Company officials at Bombay House declined details. Some platform projects similar to the Indica have vehicles in the cross-over league, essentially car models having modest offroading ability. With unveiling awaited, it could not be ascertained if the Softroader belongs to this category.
Besides the original hatchback, the Indica platform has spawned a sedan (Indigo), a station wagon (Marina) and a multi-purpose van (Indiva). At past exhibitions, the Tatas have additionally displayed a sports car, the Aria.
Also making its European debut at the Geneva show, is the updated version of the Indica hatchback with a 1.4-litre family of Euro III diesel and gasoline engines.
