Migratory Pintail birds swimming in the lake on Kolkata Zoological Gardens on Tuesday. Found at lakes, reservoirs and marshes, these are among the most common migratory species in North and East India, are highly gregarious and keep in flocks up to hundreds of birds. They enter India by September-October and depart by the end of March.
