Information Technology SBBJ in talks with ICICI Bank for sharing ATM network Our Bureau
Kolkata , March 4 STATE Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur (SBBJ) is planning to expand its ATM network by entering into shared network arrangement with ICICI Bank. "Our discussion with ICICI Bank for sharing the ATM network facility is in advanced stage and we hope to finalise the arrangement within a month or so," Mr K.K. Chattopadhyay, General Manager (Operations), SBBJ, told Business Line on Thursday. Once the arrangement had been finalised, anyone having an ATM card of SBBJ would be able to access as many as 6,000 ATMs all over the country, he said. SBBJ has similar arrangement with SBI and its six associate banks and also UTI Bank and HDFC Bank. Together, around 5,000 ATMs can now be accessed, including 3,200 of SBI group. Earlier, Mr Chattopadhyay inaugurated an ATM at the bank's Salt Lake branch the banks first ATM in the city (where there are 12 branches) and 105th in the country (more than 800 branches). The Salt Lake branch, he said, had also launched the single-window operation and was said to provide a few other value-added services. For example, special cells would be set up at the branch to provide the entire gamut of services relating to personal banking and to meet the loan requirement of small and medium scale enterprises. The only currency chest of the bank in the city would also be opened in the Salt Lake branch soon. Referring to the bank's overall performance, Mr Chattopadhyay said the total business in the current financial year would be about Rs 24,000 crore, up from Rs 20,000 crore in 2002-2003 and profit about Rs 300 crore (Rs 205 crore). Up to December, the profit was more than Rs 220 crore and net NPAs about two per cent, he added.
