CPI(M) plea to APERC

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , March 4

THE Andhra Pradesh Committee of Communist Party of India (Marxist) has urged the AP Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) to hold a public hearing on the tariff policy proposals for non-conventional energy (NCE) projects submitted by the Transmission Corporation of AP (APTransco).

In a letter to the APERC Chairman, a copy of which was released to the press, the CPM State Secretary, Mr B.V. Raghavulu, pointed out that he had already brought to the notice of the commission that APTransco had worked out its cost of power purchase for the year 2004-05 on the basis of its proposals for revision of tariff for power of NCE projects to Rs 2.30 per kwh on an average as against Rs 3.48 per kwh paid during 2003-04. Hence, there was a need to hold a public hearing on the issue before APERC finalised the tariffs of the power utilities for the next fiscal.
