Dr Subhadra Nair will be the chairperson for this session. Three hundred obstetricians, neonatologists and paediatricians and post-graduate students from across South India are expected to attend. Babies born prior to 35 weeks of conception are normally called preterm babies. Changing lifestyle patterns and increasing incidence of obstetric problems are the major factors compelling doctors to deliver more and more babies before 35 weeks, Dr Rajasekharan Nair said. Nearly 20 experts from different fields will present papers on neonatal and obstetric problems. Increasing incidences of growth-restricted infants and preterm babies threaten medical science.
