HYDERABAD: The city-based Vishwabharathy Foundation has announced `Star of India Awards.'

The awards will be presented to Prof U.R. Rao, former Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation; Dr Rajesh Sharma, Managing Director of Narayana Hrudayalaya (Bangalore); Mr Sanjay Puri, Mr Ram Jethmalani, senior advocate, Mr A.G. Kalmankar, Managing Director of State Bank of Hyderabad, and Dr Verghese Kurien, the father of white revolution.

The awards will be conferred on them on Sunday at a function to be held at Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam.

The same day seven school children, who had excelled in the talent test conducted last month, would receive the annual Sir CV Raman Young Genius Awards. Announcing this at a press conference, Mr Y Kiron, Executive Director of Vishwabharathy Foundation, said about 80,000 children competed for the `Young Genius' awards. "The idea is to allow the children to share the dais with those who made it big and draw inspiration from them," he said.
