`Ten Sports won't hike rate for Indo-Pak series'

New Delhi , March 7

CRICKET enthusiasts can now breathe easy. Viewing the much-awaited first encounter between India and Pakistan should no more be a problem, provided the local cable operators play a fair game.

Cable Distribution Network (CDN), the cable distribution partners of Ten Sports in India, has announced that the price of Ten Sports would remain at Rs 14, the same price at which the channel was launched two years back.

Mr Lalit Modi, President, CDN, said: "Instead of raising the price, we have focused on increasing the reach of the channel and have imported close to 3,000 more decoders into India for that purpose."

He added: "Moreover, we are also asking the cable operators to increase their declarations to at least 25-30 per cent of their total subscriber base."

This was still far from their total number of subscribers who pay them every month, he added.

"We are simply asking for what they pay other channels who broadcast Indian cricket, even though the India-Pak series is far bigger than the average India tour."
