Mumbai , March 8

PHARMA major Eli Lilly's woes look far from over, with regard to its second generation erectile dysfunction (ED) drug tadalafil, sold under the brand-name Cialis. Even as it awaits an exclusive marketing right for Cialis - another local manufacturer has launched a version of the same drug.

The Mumbai-based Richie Laboratories Ltd has introduced its chemically-equivalent version of tadalafil, to be sold under the Tadarich brand-name. The first company to launch a generic version of tadalafil in India was Ajanta Pharma, which launched its drug last month.

Officials with Richie told Business Line that the company's manufacturing facility at Vasai had a capacity of five lakh tablets per day. Tadarich comes as light yellow-film coated tablets in blister packs at an MRP of Rs 150 for a strip of four pills of 10 mg and Rs 240 for 20 mg.
