Ajanta goes direct for ayurvedic range

Purvita Chatterjee

Mumbai , March 9

AJANTA Pharma is trying out the direct marketing network to sell a range of ayurvedic drugs.

The company has forged a strategic alliance with an MLM (multilevel marketing) player in Mumbai, Varie Marketing Concepts, to vend a range of ayurvedic drugs.

Speaking to Business Line, Mr Pankaj Shah, Vice-President, Varie Marketing Concepts, said, "Apart from selling our own range of aromatherapy products, we will market certain ayurvedic drugs on behalf of Ajanta Pharma." The ayurvedic range from Ajanta may comprise products such as food supplements and digestives. Some of the company brands being marketed would include that of Herbowel (a food supplement) and Natozime (acidity reducing digestives).

Varie Marketing will be formally launched later this month. It will have a host of aromatherapy products made from `natural extracts' and will sell its range in pack sizes of 27 products, including six ayurvedic products from Ajanta Pharma pegged at Rs 6,500. Besides, there will also be smaller packs of aromatherapy and ayurvedic products at Rs 2,000.

The products under the Varie product umbrella would comprise a range of personal care and nutraceuticals. "We are expecting at least one lakh members to register with us in the first year itself," added Mr Shah.
