Our Bureau

Hyderabad , March 9

THE Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary, Mr Mohan Kanda, has asked all the political parties to co-operate with the Government for free and fair conduct of polls.

At a meeting convened here on Tuesday, he assured representatives of the parties that the election machinery would respond swiftly, impartially and effectively to resolve all the complaints that might come up during the period.

The meeting, which was also attended by the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr M. Narayana Rao, and the Director General of Police, Mr S.R. Sukumara, discussed the model code of conduct, security arrangements, electoral rolls and election expenditure.

Mr Sukumara said the police split the "problem areas" into three categories and security arrangements were being made to meet the situation.

Mr Narayana Rao informed that 50 per cent of the polling personnel in each district would be deployed from neighbouring districts.
