E-Commerce & E-Business FreeMarkets deployed to rein in Dabur costs Our Bureau
New Delhi , March 10 CONSUMER products company Dabur India Ltd on Wednesday announced that it has deployed a `Spend visibility solution' software provided by FreeMarkets Inc to control costs and strengthen the company's procurement process. "The software package, along with active service support, has helped large companies pare 2-4 per cent in their procurement budgets. We hope to save Rs 7-8 crore in our total annual spend of about Rs 450 crore by streamlining our entire procurement process using the services of FreeMarkets ," the Dabur Vice-President (Supply Management), Mr Jude Magima, told newspersons here. Dabur has already been using FreeMarkets' platform for e-procurement. The latest tool will enable top officials to track the procurement process and prices across the different locations of the company. "Dabur's procurement process is extremely complex because of the varied nature of its products and brands. Moreover, the company's procurement takes place from 15 business locations. Our visibility tool will sit above the company's ERP (enterprise resource planning) software and filter the available information into data that can give a complete view of the procurement process to the company's brass," said FreeMarkets India Group Director, Mr Ravi Kumaraswami. Dabur is the first Asian company to deploy the Spend Visibility 2.0 solution in Asia. The Nasdaq-listed FreeMarkets has supplied the visibility solution to 10 other global manufacturing giants, Mr Kumaraswami said.
