THE former chief executive of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), Mr Aman Mehta, has joined pharma company Wockhardt Ltd as a director on its board.

The 57-year-old Mr Mehta returned to India only recently after his retirement as Chief Executive of HSBC, based in Hong Kong, a Wockhardt communiqué said here on Wednesday. In his 36-year-long career, Mr Mehta has run HSBC businesses in America, Europe, West Asia, Africa and the Asia Pacific.

An economics graduate from Delhi's St. Stephens College, Mr Mehta is a member of the governing board of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He is also a director of Raffles Holdings Ltd, Singapore, and PCCW Hong Kong Telecom Ltd, Hong Kong.
