Security `Indian cos must have cyber security policy' Our Bureau
New Delhi , March 10 THE extent of risk to data security in the country is quite high, and if users are to be assured of data security every organisation must have a cyber security policy known to every single employee in it, according to Dr D.P.S. Seth, member, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. Addressing the `Network Security India 2004' international conference, he noted that networked government had changed the culture of saying "no" to every new proposal that prevailed in the administration. Though India was moving into the era of online working, with introduction of e-commerce and electronic payment, etc., there was need to move much faster. He recalled how according to experts, the US having crossed the information age was already moving into the biotech era. Twenty-four-hour information channels were now available in the US for as low as $9 (Rs 400) a month. The day-long conference on network security, organised by Bharat Exhibitions, had a number of experts analyse the problems of network data security and the changes needed in business processes and legal systems.
