Bangalore , March 11

THE board of ABB India Ltd, the local arm of the Swiss-Swedish engineering major ABB Ltd, has approved a proposal to sell the company's control valve unit in India, ABB said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The sale plan was in line with the parent's decision to exit the control valve business. The local control valve business, that employs 47 people, reported revenue of Rs 6 crore in last financial year ending December 2003.

The proposal will have to be approved by shareholders, the statement added.
