BSNL cuts rental deposits in twin cities

HYDERABAD: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), Hyderabad Telecom District, has reduced rental deposit of land phone from the existing annual amount of Rs 3,000 to Rs 500 for local; Rs 1000 for STD and Rs 1500 for ISD. The offer is valid up to March 31.

The new scheme is being introduced on trial basis for the benefit of middle- and lower middle-class people in the twin cities. There would be no installation charges for the new connection and the BSNL hopes to net 20,000 connections, its Principal General Manage, Hyderabad, Mr C. Govardhan, told newspersons.

He said local calls and calls up to 50 kms from BSNL land phone to any land line would be charged at a pulse rate of 180 seconds. Detailed billing is free, including 95 dialling and no charges would be taken for shifting anywhere in India, he added. To improve customer service, the BSNL will accept cash up to Rs 5,000 at all counters and has extended working hours up to 3 p.m.
