Indian economy

This is with reference to "Sun rises again in the east" (Business Line, March 16). The article made an interesting reading. Indians have the tendency of not recognising their strengths unless pointed by the outside world. For instance, the spiritual vibrancy of the country was recognised only when the western world was taken by storm through the discourses on Indian religion and spirituality by Swamy Vivekananda. Indians realised the inherent strength and resilience of the economy only when exposed to the global economic challenges such as the Gulf War, East-Asian crisis, Iraq war and now the business process outsourcing backlash.
