Airlines Marketing - Promotions & Offers British Airways woos fliers with special fares Ashwini Phadnis
New Delhi , March 16 IF you are planning to go on an African Safari, see the Niagara Falls in Canada or enjoy the sights and sounds of Australia this summer, you could consider flying British Airways (BA). BA has both launched and extended special fares from India to various parts of the world to cater to the demand of a growing number of Indians wanting to travel abroad for the summer vacation. A passenger flying business class between April 1 and April 30 to the Canadian cities of Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, or Chennai can look forward to a discount of about 15-30 per cent on the normal IATA published fares. The special fare is valid for ticketing from today till April 30 this year. The airline has also extended the special fares for its first and business class passengers flying from the four metros to various African cities, including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Nairobi and Lagos, among others. The offer, which is to remain valid till September 30 this year, also allows a passenger a stop over in London in both the directions. There is also a special offer for economy-class passengers travelling from Delhi or Mumbai to London through Singapore or Bangkok. The special fare is to remain on offer till June 30 and will allow a passenger a stop over in Bangkok or Hong Kong. A passenger utilising the offer can fly from Delhi or Mumbai to either Hong Kong or Bangkok before reaching London and can fly directly back to India. Similarly, an economy-class passenger travelling from either Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata or Bangalore to either Sydney or Melbourne in Australia can also look forward to travelling with the British flag carrier. A passenger taking up the offer would travel with Indian Airlines to either Singapore or Bangkok before catching an onwards BA flight. The promotional scheme is to remain in force till June 30 this year. British Airways, at present, operates a daily service from both Delhi and Mumbai to London, apart from offering regular services from Chennai and Kolkata.
