MANGALORE University is planning to offer consultancy service in the areas where it has developed special knowledge.
The recent academic council meeting approved the draft statute governing consultancy services of Mangalore University.
According to the statute, the university should identify the areas and the faculty who have developed technology, special knowledge, skills or expertise in their respective disciplines and offer them to other institutions, companies, societies, trusts, and individuals as and when required by them.
The university is competent to fix consultancy fee by taking into consideration the cost involved in developing the technology and providing consultancy, expertise, special knowledge, and all other aspects.
After deducting the costs incurred, consultants will have to be paid 30 per cent of total amount received. The rest will be treated as internal resource and used for development activities.
