`The ongoing outcry in the US against outsourcing of jobs to destination like India is an election year issue and will not impact plans to migrate jobs'.

Bangalore , March 17

OUTSOURCE Partners International (OPI) Inc, a business process-outsourcing firm specialising in finance and accounting services on Wednesday said that it was doubling its capacity in Bangalore. The company has set up a second service centre in Bangalore, which will increase its capacity to accommodate about 600 people. The company currently has some 350 in its Bangalore centre and has invested about $2 million in India.

"The setting up of new facility highlights our commitment to Bangalore as well as the success of our strategy to reshape the business processes of accounting and finance solutions through an onsite/offshore model," said Mr Clarence T. Schmitz, chairman and CEO, OPI Inc.

OPI serves US businesses, public and private, large and small by handling internal accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations and financial reporting from its Bangalore centre.

The company that clocked revenue of $28 million in 2003, expects to double it to $50 million in 2004 and $100 million in 2005, Mr Schmitz said.

The ongoing outcry in the US against outsourcing of jobs to destination like India was an election year issue and would not impact the company's plans to migrate jobs, he said. OPI would look at diversifying into areas like equity research as a logical extension to its existing business, Mr Schmitz said.

Mr Kishore Mirchandani, President and CEO of OPI Inc's Indian subsidiary, said the company had been working with the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and the Christ College in developing BPO courses. The company is also evaluating options of branching out into other cities, he added.
