Gandhigram marketing effort

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: A rural marketing network has been formed by the Gandhigram Rural Trust (GRT) at Gandhigram, near here, to sell, on a trial basis, the products manufactured by the self-help groups.

According to Mr M.R. Rajagopalan, Secretary, GRT, 10 persons each from Theni and Dindigul districts are trained to enable them market a wide range of products made by the Kadhi and Village Industries and SHGs. Each one of them would cover six villages.

In addition to the sales, they would also find out the requirements of rural consumers and identify the nature of purchasing power.

SHGs would engage in the manufacture of such products and supply them to the consumers.

The Gandhigram sales persons would market a wide range of consumer products, Sidha medicines and sanitary products and take them to the doorsteps of the rural people, he added.
