National training institute for Rly accounts in AP

A NATIONAL-LEVEL training institute for Railway accounts is coming up at Secunderabad.

The Rs 2.86-crore Centralised Academy for Railway Accounts (C-TARA) will become the second national-level Railway training institute at Secunderabad after the Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunication (IRISET).

Ms Vijayalakshmi Viswanathan, Financial Commissioner (Railways), on Thursday laid the foundation stone for C-TARA.

Later, she said that structured training would go a long way in improving the efficiency of accounts officers.

Training would help them deal with a variety of financial concepts related to organisational finance and alternative sources of financing.

The project is likely to be completed by March next.

The institute would have a 26-room hostel, a South Central Railway (SCR) release said.

Ms Geetha Thoopal, Financial Advisor to Chief Accounts Officer, SCR, called for formulation of innovative training modules to meet the challenges of changing economic scenario.
