SCCWL emerges lowest bidder for APGenco washery

Hyderabad , March 18

ST-CLI Coal Washeries Ltd (SCCWL), promoted by Spectrum Technologies of the US, has emerged as the lowest bidder for the 11 million tonne coal washery planned by Andhra Pradesh Generation Corporation (APGenco) at Talcher in Orissa.

The coal beneficiation cost quoted by the company stood at Rs 57 per tonne.

According to the SCCWL Chairman, Dr A.V. Mohan Rao, the project, estimated to cost Rs 250 crore, will be commissioned in two phases with the first phase of 7 million tonnes capacity of raw coal catering to the existing six units of the 1260 MW Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (VTPS) and the second phase of 4 million tonnes catering to VTPS expansion project of 660 MW. SCCWL is currently operating a 7-million-tonne washery at Dipka Mines of South Eastern Coal Fields supplying washed coal to Reliance Energy-owned 500 MW Dhanu plant in Maharashtra, ACC-owned cement plants and the power stations owned by the Gujarat State Electricity Board.
