FDI in private companies

This refers to "Private cos too attract FDI slice" (Business Line,March 21). The emerging trend indicates the vibrancy of the private managements, which makes them `globally competitive'. It is also notable that relatively smaller companies attract FDIs. Though the feasibility of the investments depends upon the provision of an exit route through IPOs, this alone may not account for the accumulation of FDI in the private sector. The pharma and textile sectors are expected to see a turnaround story emerge in the coming years.

The present flows can definitely increase the confidence and exposure of smaller players and enable them to raise debt at lower rates to ensure increased profitability with lesser costs.
