Telecommunications Hutch spots good potential in semi-urban AP V. Rishi Kumar
Hyderabad , March 24 HUTCHISON Essar South, the private cellular operator in Andhra Pradesh, has consolidated its footprint to about 120 towns and sees a substantial push in the semi-urban market and `community of interests' such as chilli farmers near Guntur and fishermen in Nellore . The Chief Operating Officer of Hutch-AP, Mr Kumar Ramanathan, told Business Line that "with most of the regulatory issues sorted out, we are focussed on consolidation of the network and business. From just about 90 towns in August, we have grown to over 120 towns." "The urban-rural mix is estimated at about 50:50 in our case now and this is set to change as we expand the network . ," he said.
