CII circulates minimum economic agenda for AP

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , March 25

IN view of the ensuing elections, the Confederation of Indian Industry (AP) has drafted a minimum economic agenda for the State and presented it to the representatives of the Telugu Desam Party, Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party.

The economic agenda, based on the views of the industry and expertise of PricewaterhouseCoopers, focuses on agriculture, infrastructure, exports, healthcare, tourism and knowledge sectors. The Public Policy Panel of CII (AP) has prepared the agenda.

The Panel Convenor, Mr D.V. Manohar, told newspersons here on Thursday that all the three political parties have "broadly accepted our minimum economic agenda".

However, when asked whether the representatives of the political parties have agreed to the CII's proposal in the agenda to liberalise land ceiling for agriculture, Mr Harischandra Prasad, Convenor of Infrastructure Panel of CII (AP), just said that they have "listened to us".

Mr Manohar said that the CII had approached only those political parties that were capable of forming government either at the State or the Centre. Hence, the economic agenda was not presented to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which would be contesting 42 Assembly seats in alliance with the Congress in the State.
