UK team releases £20-m aid to combat TB

New Delhi , March 29

THE visiting delegation of International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases from the United Kingdom was in India to release the approved grant of £20 million (around Rs 161 crore) to fight against tuberculosis and other lung diseases in the country.

The World Punjabi Organisation and the Sun Foundation felicitated the visiting delegation from the UK, which comprised Mr Keith Vaz, Member of Parliament and Former Minister of Europe, Mr John Barret, Member of Parliament of UK, Ms Sheila Davie, National Director-RESULTS, a UK-based NGO, and Mr Gary Hampton, Coordination of Stop TB Image Library, a division of WHO Japan.

According to an official communication, the delegation was here to participate in the global conference on tuberculosis held on March 24, during the `World TB Day'.
