Kamineni Hospitals plans health centre at Hyderabad

Hyderabad , March 29

KAMINENI Hospitals, the city-based corporate hospital, has proposed to set up a health centre with a variety of medical services from different streams, according to Ms Chandana Khan, Principal Secretary to Govt of AP (Tourism and Culture).

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the new facility of Shantigiri's Ayurveda Panchakarma centre here today, she said the State Government was studying the proposal. The Kamineni proposal wanted the centre to be a joint venture partner with the State Government.

"The hospital has recently tied up with Shantigiri for offering ayurveda services. It is a welcome trend. Even corporate hospitals are taking to ayurveda because patients want it," she said. She asked Shantigiri people to come out with a resort.

Referring to the tie-up between AP Tourism and Shantigiri, she said that the USP (unique selling proposition) of Kerala tourism was ayurveda. "We thought we should also add this to our list of tourism products," she said.

She felt that innovative things should be tried. "We don't know what catches the fancy of people. We can always try. If it doesn't click, we can close it as well," she said. She cited the examples of outlets in remote towns such as Kadapa and Vizianagaram.

Mr Chandramouli, Managing Director of State Trading Corporation, said that the Keralite technique helped bring in attitudinal change in the Government staff in Kadapa district, where he worked as a Collector.

Mr R. Gopalakrishna, Chief Executive of Shantigiri, said the company had invested Rs 10-15 lakh on each of the 10 outlets in the State. "We hope to break even next year," he told Business Line later.

"We are planning to expand to Ongole, Anantapur and Puttaparthi," he said.
