Bangalore , March 31

MANGALORE Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd (MCF) plans to set up a metallurgical coke manufacturing facility at its existing plant site with an estimated capital expenditure of Rs 360 crore, the company said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The facility with an annual capacity of 4,50,000 MT is likely to go on stream within 18 months of start-up, the statement said. The facility will also house power and steam co-generation, which in turn will be used by the fertiliser plant.

The diversification is aimed at reducing dependence on Government fertiliser policies, boost profitability and arrange for an alternative source of power to replace the aging captive power plant.
