The Hindu Business Line : IA cuts fare for Chennai-Coimbatore leg on Sharjah flight

INDIAN Airlines which has recently introduced the `positioning fares' for select domestic legs of its international flights has further brought down its economy fares for the Chennai-Coimbatore sector on its Chennai-Sharjah international flight effective April 1.

Passengers travelling on the economy class from Chennai to Coimbatore on the flight IC 975 and its return flight IC 976 (Coimbatore to Chennai) would be charged Rs 1,250 instead of the originally fixed `positioning' fare of Rs 1,700 for the sector, according to a press release from the IA.

There has been, however, no change in the `positioning' fare for Coimbatore-Kochi and Kochi-Coimbatore leg of the international flight which would remain Rs 700.

The IA's Chennai-Sharjah thrice-a-week flight leaving Chennai at 2.20 p.m. arrives in Coimbatore at 3.15 p.m. and leaves Coimbatore at 4 p.m. Its return flight (IC 976) arrives in Coimbatore at 3.55 a.m. and leaves for Chennai at 4.35 a.m. .

IA had come out with the `positioning' fare for the passengers travelling on domestic leg of its international flight on specific routes early this month by slashing the fare by 50 per cent.
