Bangalore , March 31 VIJAYA Bank announced the launch of a core banking solution for its consumer and corporate banking customers. The bank is deploying Infosys' centralised banking solution Finacle while Wipro will be the prime integrator as well as provider of tele-banking and anti-money laundering solutions to the bank. Announcing this, the Vijaya Bank CMD, Mr M.S. Kapur, said the Rs 90-crore initiative was on a pilot project now and would be extended across 350 branches in 18 months with the IT majors' services. Wipro and Infosys are co-implementing similar projects with the Union Bank of India and Oriental Bank of Commerce, and both Mr Azim Premji and Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy said such co-operation to win deals in the Indian market would suit them both. Although the relationship might continue abroad, Mr Premji said Infosys operated in markets that Wipro was not in and it may not be possible to always approach deals together. Further, there could not be partnerships in the BPO space between Wipro Spectramind and Infosys' Progeon, Mr Premji said.
