Japan to extend Rs 5,270-cr loan

INDIA is now the largest recipient of yen loan assistance from Japan replacing China. The Government of Japan on Wednesday agreed to extend official development assistance (ODA) to India, in the form of soft loans totalling Rs 5,270 crore (125 billion yen).

The Exchange of Notes to formalise the agreement was concluded at the North Block here on Wednesday. The notes were signed and exchanged between Mr Yasukuni Enoki, Ambassador of Japan to India, and Mr S.G. Mankad, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Finance.
