Our Correspondent

Kottayam , April 1

THE physical rubber prices flared up on Thursday. The first day of the financial year witnessed hectic buying from the covering groups and purchase agents.

Arrival of raw materials does not register any improvement. All the grades gained on all-round buying.

Meanwhile, sources indicated that the covering groups are simply lifting the prices to new highs expecting the major manufacturers to reappear on the buyers' side soon. Growers appeared reluctant to sell since they expect fresh cash flow to the market in the new financial year.

The futures market followed the better trend on Thursday. The April delivery was quoted at Rs 56.70 (56.37), May delivery at Rs 59.14 (58.95), June delivery at Rs 61.01 (60.69) and July delivery at Rs.61.48 (61.33) per kg for RSS 4.
