New Delhi , April 1 TATA Telecom and Avaya Inc, a global provider of communications networks, today introduced new software applications and phones that provide greater control over the growing number of communication devices. The new converged communications solutions are based on SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), which enable integration of Internet applications, such as instant messaging, with voice and telephone features such as conferencing, voice mail and click-to-dial capabilities. "This will enable individuals and teams across many locations to easily collaborate with the right person, using the right device, at the right time," according to the Tata Telecom Vice-President (Marketing and Strategic Alliances), Mr Ajit Thatte. Meanwhile, Noida-based IT solutions provider HCL Technologies announced that it will offer SIP components and solutions on Windows CE for audio and video conferencing, messaging and presence applications on mobile handheld devices. The launch was announced at the ongoing Voice on the Net Conference being held at Santa Clara in the US. The components will help accelerate the deployment of standards-based IP telephony by businesses and service providers, a company press release said here.
