Our Bureau

MANGALORE: The Director of Technical Education, Mr K. Basavaraju, has favoured the establishment of industry-institute cells in all engineering colleges.

Speaking at the inauguration of the State-level "Do it yourself" exhibition, jointly organised by the Department of Technical Education and the Nitte Mahalinga Adyanthaya Memorial Institute of Technology, at Nitte in Udupi district on Friday, he said that the Centre has allocated funds for the establishment of such cells in the engineering colleges.

The Vice-President of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, Mr V.K. Thalithaya, who inaugurated the exhibition, said that best companies look forward for best engineers and technocrats. He also expressed concern over the lack of coordination between the institutes and the industry.

Mr N. Vinay Hegde, President of the Nitte Education Trust, was present.

Fifty-four institutes displayed their projects at the exhibition.

Earlier, Mr S.Y. Kulkarni, Principal of the Nitte Mahalinga Adyanthaya Memorial Institute of Technology, welcomed the gathering.
