Hyderabad , April 2

TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on Friday announced the release of PowerPac-G, a software product that addresses decision support and integrated asset management needs of power generation plants.

TCS and BHEL will jointly market the product in the Indian and global markets, and initial orders have been firmed up.

Developed over the period of one year, the product is an outcome of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by TCS and BHEL in January 2003 that sought to jointly develop IT solutions for the power sector.

The product was released at BHEL's Corporate R&D Division in Hyderabad by Mr S. Balagurunathan, Executive Director (R&D), BHEL, and Dr Ravi Gopinath, Vice-President, TCS, according to a TCS release.
