A.K. Puri is new Director on BHEL board

New Delhi , April 2

MR A.K. Puri has assumed charge as Director (Power) on the board of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), the `Navratna' engineering and power equipment major.

During his tenure as Executive Director, Power Sector (Marketing), an all-time high order booking of over Rs 12,000 crore was achieved in power sector business segment in 2003-04.

An Electrical Engineer and MBA in Marketing & Finance, Mr Puri joined BHEL in 1976 after a brief stint in the private sector.

During his 34 years of professional experience, he made significant contributions in various key functions such as corporate management, management services, domestic and international marketing, planning and manufacturing, a BHEL statement said here.
