India-China trade pegged at $20 b in 6 yrs

INDIA'S Ambassador to China, Mr Nalin Surie, on Friday said that the country's trade with China could touch $20 billion by 2010.

Addressing a meeting organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here, Mr Surie said that India's trade with China touched $1.87 billion during the first two months of this fiscal and can achieve $20 billion by 2010.

The Ambassador stressed that India is committed to "quantum increase in economic relation," and said that there are huge opportunities in the Chinese market, which the Indian industry must tap.

Mr Surie said that there are a number of new areas such as agriculture and dairy products, which the Indian industry is yet to tap, and offers huge opportunities.
