Business Line quiz to be held across three cities

Our Bureau

Chennai , April 2

IN which country are Panama hats made? Panama, right? Wrong! It's Equador. More such mind benders will follow at the The Hindu Business Line Quiz, which, is back in a bigger avatar, to mark Business Line's tenth year of publication. With Chennai hosting the grand finale on May 7, the quiz for the first time will also be held in Bangalore (April 23) and Hyderabad (April 30).

Two-member teams made up of individuals, corporates or students will fight it out, initially, for a place in the city finals. Then, the winners and runners-up in each city contest will fight it out in the mega finals in Chennai, which is being hosted in conjunction with the Advertising Club Madras. The winners stand to win a purse of Rs 50,000 while a host of other prizes, cash and kind, are there to be won.

The entry fee is Rs 1,000 per corporate/individual team while it is Rs 500 per team for students.

The quiz, to be conducted by Mr Suresh Kumar, an ad and marketing professional who is also an avid quizzer, will test the participants' knowledge of the world of business, marketing and advertising — about news, events and the people who matter.

The title sponsor for the quiz is Union Bank of India, with Amco Batteries, Reynolds, Club Mahindra, Titan and ITC Wills Lifestyle being the co-sponsors. Savera Hotels will be the hospitality sponsor in Chennai. Those wishing to participate can send in their entries to Advertising Club Madras, Chennai, (Phone: 28141581, 28142250); Mr R. Sunil, Bangalore (Phone: 080-22864240); Mr B. Srinath Iyer, Hyderabad (Phone: 040-23417777/23403902).

Last year's Ad Club Business Line was unique for its online preliminary round, enabled by Sify through its I-Ways across six cities.
