Hyderabad , April 2

DR Reddy's Laboratories has announced the launch of Redotil (racecadotril), claimed to be the first anti-hypersecretory agent for the management of acute diarrhoea in the country. In a press release here on Friday, the company said the product would be available in 100 mg capsules.

Commenting on the launch, Dr Reddy's President, Branded Formulations Business, Mr Jaspal Singh Bajwa, said, "Redotil addresses a critical need of the medical fraternity across the country. Redotil's unique mechanism of action and quick control of diarrhoea makes it a novel drug in this therapeutic category."

About one million diarrhoea-related deaths occur each year in South-East Asia.

The product is an important addition to the company's gastrointestinal product portfolio.
