Hyderabad , April 4 THE `Vigyan Rail', chugging along the length and breadth of the country showcasing the country's scientific heritage and achievements in various fields will halt for a week in Hyderabad, between April 5 and April 11. A Union Government project the "Science Exhibition on Wheels" is a tribute to the country's scientific accomplishments and the year 2004, which has been declared as the Year of Scientific Awareness in India. On its long journey, the train will halt at 56 select cities in different States and Union Territories. The Vigyan Rail started on December 15, 2003 from New Delhi and has covered 27 places. It has 12 compartments housing models, charts, exhibits, hand-on-models, computer mediated quiz, video and multi-media to give a peep into the country's prowess in the fields of space, medicine, agriculture, information technology, environment and defence. The rail is expected to complete its marathon run and reach New Delhi on August 16. The Member-Secretary, Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science and Technology, Prof. J.M. Naidu, told newspersons on Sunday that the entry to the Vigyan Rail would be free and requested managements of schools and colleges to avail themselves of the opportunity of seeing the exhibition at the Secunderabad Railway station. Interestingly, this is the fourth Exhibition on Wheels (Rail) and first as far as popularisation of science was concerned. The earlier exhibitions were the Golden Jubilee Year of India's Independence in 1997, Rashtriya Sahara in 1998 and 150 years of India Railways in 2001.
