IICT takes up 90 new assignments, files 62 patents

THE Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) took up 90 new assignments worth Rs 20 crore and filed for 62 patents, including 44 overseas patents, during the financial year 2003-04.

Disclosing this at the IICT's function here recently, Dr J.S. Yadav, Director of IICT, said the institute was granted 67 patents, which included 35 Indian and 29 US patents during the period.

He said the institute would make every effort to release these patents commercially by tapping suitable clients.

On the research front, 48 research scholars had submitted their doctoral theses.

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research had allocated Rs 40 crore of which Rs 9 crore was for taskforce projects.
