THE State Government has notified downward revision in and exemption from sales tax in respect of a number of goods/commodities with effect from April 1 as specified as follow:

Cashew nut procured from within the State for being processed within the geographical boundaries of the State - revised from eight per cent to four per cent.

Firewood for use as fuel in SSI units - from 12 per cent to four per cent. Ditto for blood-bags. Coconut oil and copra meal - from two per cent to one per cent.

Khadi and village industries units with annual turnover not exceeding Rs 25 lakh - fully exempted. Ditto for milk supplied within the State by cooperative societies.
