Water level

This is with reference to the article "Water level dips in reservoirs" (Business Line, April 7)

The dipping in the water levels has been going on for a long time now.

The steps that need to be taken now are:

  • Have an integrated national policy to be executed by the Central Ground Water Authority as responsible partners with State governments' designated bodies responsible for water generation and supply.

  • Enlist the support of responsible NGOs mainly of women to implement an awareness campaign.

  • Engage independent techno-commercial teams with proven integrity to have an accuracy-based evaluation of the present situation within a fixed time.

  • Immediately conduct a high level investigation supported by emotional intelligence.

Water is only one of the issues. This has to be actively linked to all other issues if India is to provide a better environment and future to its children.
