BPL Mobile plans expansion in Kochi

KOCHI: Anticipating further growth in the number of subscribers, BPL Mobile is setting up its second Main Switching Centre (MSC) here.

According to an official press release here, the new MSC could support more than four times of subscribers when compared with the existing capacity. It can also handle more than four times of the existing mobile calls and more than five times of existing SMS traffic.

BPL Mobile also plans to introduce Intelligent Network (IN) for the pre-paid category. On coverage enhancement, the company is planning to add 50 more cell sites, of which 15 will be installed soon, Mr K.A. Mohamed Saleem, Chief Operating Officer, BPL Mobile, Kerala, said. He said that with over 2.75 lakh subscribers as per the latest COAI figures, BPL Mobile had over 150 cell sites including the latest addition of 22 new cell sites.
