Letters Business courts
This is with reference to "Specialised business courts mooted" (Business Line, 11th April). The reinvention of the Indian legal system like the establishment of special courts for commercial disputes will pave the way for strengthening the corporate infrastructure for a market economy that can ensure double-digit economic growth. At present, these cases get no priority as they are mixed up with other routine ones. The knowledge of the subject matter should help the judges in reducing the delay. As noted by the article, the slow or non-functioning judicial system can harm the growth of the country. The unfavourable price system in any country vis-à-vis the international standards on high risks and large transaction costs are not beneficial for any economy. C. P.
